Secretary of State Marco Rubio calls out Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s meet-up with alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia during a Senate committee hearing.

May 21, 2025 | Washington, D.C. — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated today that President Donald J. Trump is actively restoring America’s global reputation, crediting the administration with taking bold steps to reassert U.S. leadership and strength abroad.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Pentagon, Hegseth praised Trump’s foreign policy strategy and military posture, saying, “President Trump is fixing America’s reputation on the world stage. He’s showing our allies that we’re dependable again and sending a clear message to our adversaries: the United States is back, and we mean business.”

Hegseth pointed to increased defense spending, the push for stronger international partnerships, and the proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense initiative as key examples of the administration’s commitment to global security and deterrence.

“He’s rebuilding respect through strength,” Hegseth continued. “Our allies are standing closer. Our adversaries are stepping back. That’s the difference this leadership makes.”

The defense secretary’s remarks come as part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to highlight its national security agenda ahead of the 2024 election. While the approach has drawn both support and criticism internationally, Hegseth insists that the results speak for themselves.

“Restoring America’s reputation doesn’t happen with words alone—it happens through action, and that’s exactly what this president is delivering,” he said.
